Prof. Bernhard Brehmer is a full professor of Slavic Linguistics and Head of the Department of Slavic Studies at the Ernst Moritz Arndt University Greifswald. He received his PhD from the University of Tübingen in 2004 with a study on the expression of politeness in Russian. From 2006-2012 he worked as a junior professor in Polish and South Slavic Linguistics at the University of Hamburg. He led several third-party funded research projects on Slavic-German bilingualism at the Universities of Hamburg and Greifswald. His main research interests include Slavic heritage languages in Germany, multilingual language acquisition, language contact, script linguistics, and pragmatics.
